Details
Step outside the classroom and into a world where nature becomes your greatest inspiration. This week-long summer art camp invites middle school students (ages 11–14) to explore the powerful connection between the environment and artistic expression. Throughout the week, students will observe, interpret, and transform the natural world into unique works of art. From sketching organic forms and experimenting with natural textures to creating vibrant pieces inspired by landscapes, plants, and outdoor elements, campers will discover how art lives all around them. Each day blends hands-on art projects, outdoor exploration, and creative experimentation, encouraging students to see their surroundings in new and exciting ways. Whether working with paint, mixed media, or found natural materials, campers will develop their artistic skills while building a deeper appreciation for the beauty and complexity of nature. By the end of the week, students will leave with: - A collection of original, nature-inspired artwork - New artistic techniques and creative confidence - A stronger connection to the environment - Fresh inspiration drawn from the world around them This camp is perfect for curious, creative students who love being outdoors and want to turn their observations into meaningful art. Sliding Scale Pricing & Scholarships Available About the Teaching Artist With a richly layered background that spans cultures, techniques, and lived experiences, Taryn Sutter is an art teacher who brings far more than technical instruction into her classroom—she creates meaningful connection with students through her teaching. Her practice is rooted in the belief that art is not confined to a canvas or studio, but exists in every moment, every perspective, and every individual willing to see it. A highly skilled and accomplished artist in her own right, Taryn blends mastery with deep empathy, creating a transformational environment where students feel both challenged and supported. She encourages them to look beyond perfection and instead discover authenticity—guiding each student to recognize the beauty in their own voice as an artist. Taryn uses art as a powerful pathway to healing, growth, and resilience—showing students how creative expression can illuminate even the most difficult experiences. In her classroom, art is not just something you make; it is something you feel, process, and carry with you.
