My Story
As a feminist social impact professional in Wisconsin and Washington, DC, for over 20 years, I've long wondered, "How can more humans do more of the work that we deeply love?"
Now I'm ecstatic to find myself at a new intersection of the arts and economic development -- at a vacant schoolhouse in downtown Verona. I served on the City of Middleton’s Arts Committee for 8 years, which sparked my interest in local business partnerships and the creative economy.
I'm founding Slate BLUE Studios to provide affordable, messy co-working space for underrepresented artists, along with uncommon classes and community events. Slate BLUE Studios will support artists as creative entrepreneurs, offering artist retail and exhibition opportunities, and lowering overhead.
I can't wait to see artists create amazing works and glorious messes, provide a safe place for teens to engage in artistic expression, and offer the art classes that I haven't found elsewhere.
Coming to the future ART House 360 in 2024: More workspace for more artists. Untold stories from underrepresented artists. A spark for Dane County's creative economy. Greater wellbeing through creativity.
Win-win-win-win.
